Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Huntingdon
not only represents a beloved Pennsylvania landmark, but it’s also the classic Southern BBQ chain’s sole location beyond Florida’s borders. The Jacksonville-based franchise backed the opening of The Keystone State’s one and only Woody’s Bar-B-Q by Mike and Renee Dilberian in 2011. The couple quickly grew a loyal fanbase – drawn by a great atmosphere, kitschy décor, full bar and Woody’s signature menu of slow-smoked meats, comfort food sides and decadent desserts. The location changed hands to Maurice and Kate Thompson, who then sold the location to Ashley Carper and Samantha Purdy in February 2022 – marking the answer to a lifelong dream for what the chain’s founders deem their hard-working “Dynamic Duo.”
Ashley brought with her loads of heart and 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry, while Samantha came to the table with a wealth of business savvy gained from helping her father manage the family business. Motivated by the prospect of a rewarding and successful future, the two have built and maintained a wonderful staff that is always willing to go the extra mile for their customers. Between great leadership, a caring team and recipes that have stood the test of time for more than 40 years, Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Huntingdon has kept a tight grip on its faithful following of patrons.
“We are so thankful for our loyal customers, who continue to support us and keep us going every day,” said Ashley. “We love nothing more than seeing our guests enjoy their food and the overall experience when they come to visit. Our staff, Samantha and I strive to make sure every experience with us is the best. With Woody’s being the only one in Huntingdon, we offer something different for our locals. And when we have visitors in from Florida, we offer them a taste of home.”
Among the most popular dishes at Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Huntingdon are its Baby Back Ribs, Smoked Wings and Southwest Wraps. In addition to excellent food, the location offers a full bar, delivery through Door Dash and regular contests. Ashley and Samantha hope to launch a regular trivia night soon. They recently debuted a breakfast menu at their restaurant to immense success. The pair is extremely community-minded and often donates gift cards to special events, hosts benefit nights for families in need and sponsors local youth sports teams. Located within 10 miles of the Hesston Speedway, Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Huntingdon reserves walls in its newly refreshed interior to hang door panels as a show of support for local racers.
